About Us

In August 2008, Ciudad Juárez witnessed the birth of its first culinary school: the Instituto Superior de Alta Cocina (ISAC). Founded by a group of local entrepreneurs, ISAC emerged to fill the gap in formal education in the culinary field, driven by the national relevance of the sector, which generated 23% of the tourism GDP and was the second-largest employment provider in the country.

At that time, only 5% of employees in restaurants and bars in Ciudad Juárez had academic training in gastronomy; most acquired their knowledge empirically.

With official recognition from the State of Chihuahua’s Department of Education and the General Directorate of Professions of the SEP, ISAC launched its Bachelor’s Degree in Gastronomy and Chef Assistant Training programs. Since then, the school has been key in training chefs and culinary professionals who have strengthened and enriched Ciudad Juárez’s culinary culture, giving new meaning to “The Flavor of Juárez.”
