One Dinner, Two Visions: Chef Leonardo Díaz Brings Together Flavors of the North and South at MaríaChuchena.

Last month, MaríaChuchena restaurant set the stage for an exceptional evening: a seven-course menu crafted by Chef Leonardo Díaz, a graduate of the Instituto Superior de Alta Cocina (ISAC), and Chef Erik Guerrero from DOS. restaurant in Boca del Río, Veracruz.

This culinary encounter, titled “Night Among Friends,” was more than just a collaboration between chefs; it was a fusion of visions, ingredients, and styles that brought together the flavors of northern and southern Mexico in a single menu. While Leonardo Díaz contributed his borderland identity—marked by technique, warmth, and the soul of Juárez—Chef Guerrero shared his vision of sustainable cuisine and his Veracruz roots, rooted in balance and sensory memory.

As host and ISAC graduate, Leonardo showcased his ability to lead high-level culinary experiences, reaffirming Ciudad Juárez as a city of growing culinary presence and projection. The intimate, carefully curated event offered diners not only a journey of flavors but also an evening of conversation, connection, and pride in what is ours.

Experiences like this reinforce the role of gastronomy graduates in Ciudad Juárez as key players in the culinary development of northern Mexico. At ISAC, we proudly celebrate Leonardo Díaz for his leadership, creativity, and the way he embodies the philosophy of cooking with purpose, technique, and heart.
